Global Recognition for 5thPort at ESTRO 2026: Study Highlights AI Patient Engagement Success

Newark, Delaware (May 19, 2025): 5thPort’s AI-powered patient engagement platform is helping reshape how cancer patients prepare for treatment consultations, according to new research presented at ESTRO 2026 in Stockholm.

The study, led by Dr. Adam Raben of ChristianaCare’s Helen F. Graham Cancer Center & Research Institute, found that patients who interacted with 5thPort’s AI avatar doctor before meeting with their radiation oncologist reported stronger understanding of their treatment plans, reduced stress levels, and greater confidence in participating in healthcare decisions.

Dr. Raben quoted, “Our Pilot study was designed to explore the impact of a “First Touch” personalized digital engagement link video, sent by either SMS/text and/or email using AI generated Avatars with voice clones of our physicians, combined with a focused teach-back MC quiz, to reduce consultation stress, enhance patient understanding and retention, and improve the patient experience overall.”

The findings highlight the growing role AI can play not only in clinical workflows, but also in patient communication and education. By helping patients arrive better informed and less anxious, 5thPort’s technology aims to make physician consultations more productive, personalized, and patient-centered.

Presented at the European Society for Radiotherapy and Oncology (ESTRO 2026), the study represents one of the earliest real-world clinical implementations of AI-avatar-based patient education in oncology care.
